Three people a day die from asthma.
Asthma UK is the charity dedicated to changing this.

Symbicort SMART

SMART stands for Symbicort Maintenance and Reliever Therapy and is when you have been prescribed the Symbicort inhaler to be used as both your preventer and your reliever.

How do I know if I am on the Symbicort SMART regime?

You will be on the Symbicort SMART regime if:

  • you use the Symbicort inhaler for your asthma and have been advised by your doctor or asthma nurse to use it as both your preventer and reliever
  • you are aged 18 years or older (people under 18 may be on Symbicort but will not be on the Symbicort SMART regime).

Please note - even though you may be using the Symbicort turbo inhaler, that does not automatically mean you are on the Symbicort SMART regime.

What do I do if I'm not sure if I am on the Symbicort SMART regime?

Ask your local doctor or asthma nurse or call our Asthma UK Adviceline 0800 121 62 44 to discuss your medicines.

What is the asthma attack advice for someone using Symbicort SMART regime?

Asthma UK's asthma attack information is not designed for people using the Symbicort SMART regime. You should have been advised by your doctor or asthma nurse what to do in an asthma attack. If you have not been advised or still feel unclear, speak to them as soon as possible.

If you have any further questions about the Symbicort SMART regime, please speak to your doctor or asthma nurse or call the Asthma UK Adviceline on 0800 121 62 44.
