Asthma attacks are frightening experiences. They happen when your symptoms such as feeling breathless, wheezing, tightness in the chest and coughing get worse or when you are too breathless to speak, eat or sleep.
We want to help you to avoid future attacks and to know what action to take if you have another attack.

We have resources to help you think through what might trigger your asthma attacks, and how best to avoid these triggers, as well as what to do just after you've had an attack. The information in this section will let you know when you should see your doctor or asthma nurse if you've had an attack at home, or if you've had to go to hospital because of an asthma attack.
Most importantly, it's really helpful to learn what to do in an asthma attack, so you're always prepared to deal with it. You can order an asthma attack card for yourself and for family and friends so they know how to help you too.
