SMART stands for Symbicort Maintenance and Reliever Therapy, and is when you have been prescribed the Symbicort inhaler to be used as both your preventer and your reliever.
How do I know if I am on the Symbicort SMART regime?
You will be on the Symbicort SMART regime if:
- you use the Symbicort inhaler for your asthma and have been advised by your doctor or asthma nurse to use it as both your preventer and reliever
- you are aged 18 years or older (people under 18 may be on Symbicort but will not be on the Symbicort SMART regime).
Please note - even though you may be using the Symbicort turbo inhaler, that does not automatically mean you are on the Symbicort SMART regime.
What do I do if I'm not sure if I am on the Symbicort SMART regime?
Ask your local doctor or asthma nurse or call our Asthma UK Helpline 0800 121 62 44 to discuss your medicines.
