Millie Lepora

Picture of Case Study Millie Lepora

Name: Millie Lepora

Age: 12

Asthma: Severe, difficult to control asthma since the age of five and the condition leads to other lung problems such as severe chest pains.

The severity of Millie's asthma has baffled doctors and been very difficult for her family to cope with. Over the last six years she has undergone many investigations and procedures to understand more about her condition. Sadly this has done little to help Millie and she still has hospital admissions as a result of the condition every 10-16 weeks.

Millie also sees a physiotherapist for muscular problems because of the strain placed on her ribs and posture from coughing. The support of two excellent asthma nurses has been invaluable to Millie and her family over the last few years, as they have provided vital information about asthma, helped the family to access health services and provided emotional support.

Our funded research looks at reducing the impact of asthma on lives like Millie's.
