Woman of the hour

Coming from a line of strong Yorkshire women, Jenni Murray found her voice at an early age. Now, she is the voice of women throughout the UK as the presenter of Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour.

‘I would get quite wheezy as a very small child,’ recalls Jenni. ‘Of course this was before the days of ventolin and things, and I remember spending a lot of time with my head under a towel over bowls of something that smelled absolutely pungent with hot steam coming up.’
