Charity of the year

With 1 in 12 adults affected by asthma in the UK it is likely that a  proportion of your employees or colleagues will either have asthma themselves or know someone with asthma. The opportunity for people to engage with something so directly relevant to them is extremely powerful and motivating.

Our partnership with Asthma UK was very inspiring and enjoyable. Thanks to Asthma UK's dedicated Corporate Team for motivating Topps Tiles with fun and innovative ideas, we successfully raised awareness and vital funds which made a huge difference to the lives of people with asthma.

Matthew Williams, Chief Executive Officer at Topps Tiles

How we support you

An experienced account team will support the partnership, providing fundraising materials and packs, plus innovative and bespoke fundraising ideas, including dress down days, treks, challenges and competitions. We would also embrace suggestions from your staff and tailor activities specifically to your company and employee’s needs.

Colin Middlemiss, Communications Controller at Morrisons, said: ‘We are delighted with the results of our partnership with Asthma UK - they truly pushed us further than any previous charity partner.’

Our in-house Media and PR team will work with you to maximise local and national media opportunities. Additionally, our UK-wide offices in Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh and London would ensure the needs of all your UK localities are met.

Asthma UK supporters As well as fundraising there are many rewarding volunteering activities that your employees can get involved with, including helping at one of our many Kick Asthma holidays, becoming a Speak Up For Asthma (SUFA) volunteer or even helping to raise awareness by distributing health promotion materials to local GP surgeries and healthcare centres.

Whilst tackling a serious issue we believe that a partnership with Asthma UK should be fun, innovative and rewarding for all involved.

If you are an employee of a company – of any size - that runs a charity of the year programme you could nominate or vote for Asthma UK when the company selects your next charity partner. We can also offer advice on setting up such a scheme if one doesn't currently exist.

Throughout 2010 we will be organising some special events and activities in an effort to raise awareness of asthma and hopefully generate lots of funds for this worthwhile cause. There is little doubt a fair majority of the population will have some personal experiences of asthma and are likely to have a family member who suffers from the related symptoms. We intend to build a good working relationship with Asthma UK and hope this partnership will run beyond 2010.’
