Profeet launches 'running shoe amnesty'
23 May 2007

Profeet Profeet, the UK’s leading customised insole and sports footwear specialist, is launching a running shoe amnesty in its new South London shop for three months over the summer to raise funds for Asthma UK.

Customers are invited to take their old running shoes into Profeet’s new shop in Balham, South West London, from 26 June when it officially opens. Old shoes will be recycled and in exchange for each pair, customers will receive a £2.50 credit note towards their next Profeet purchase and Profeet will donate an additional £2.50 to Asthma UK.

The amnesty will last until the end of September and customers are allowed to donate up to five pairs of old shoes. All the donated shoes will collected weekly by the Variety Club to be recycled.

Kate Pollard, Corporate Team Manager at Asthma UK comments: 'This is a really innovative idea and we hope to continue working with Profeet on creative initiatives like this. The money raised will make a big difference to the lives of people with asthma.'

Hamish Wolfenden, Founder and Technical Director of Profeet says: 'It’s great to be able to support and raise funds for such a worthwhile charity, as well as to contribute to helping the environment by recycling people’s old trainers and unwanted footwear.'

Profeet was the first high street shoe retailer to introduce a scientific approach to customising footwear with insoles, offering an appointment based on a while-you-wait one hour service. The new Profeet Balham shop will use the latest video and pressure mapping technology and enable customers to interact with the uniquely designed 3D Fit System to achieve the ultimate custom-fit shoe.
