Asthma UK works with a variety of corporate partners. This page highlights some of those partnerships and details the success and productivity of the relationships.

Kodak

Asthma UK is delighted to announce the continued support of Kodak for a third consecutive year.

Since 2008, Kodak have given incredible support to Asthma UK’s projects to help children and young people with asthma. In 2010, their generous donation will go towards further development of the Kick-A website, the Youth Conference event for schools across the UK and a brand new Kick Asthma Challenge Weekend for young people aged 16 and 18.

In addition, Kodak staff at their three sites in England will continue to fundraise for the charity through fun and innovative events, while Kodak Express photo stores across the UK are also getting involved by supporting the Bagpuss counter appeal, selling Bagpuss pin badges, soft toys and bookmarks.

Chubb UK

Chubb UK have selected Asthma UK as its first ever charity partner. We will be working closely with them throughout 2010 for a successful partnership and with high aims of exceeding the £10,000 fundraising target. 

Chubb UK staff will be getting involved in numerous activities linked to the charity, as well as helping to raise vital funds for people with asthma through innovative and fun events, such as bespoke poster competitions, forming Chubb UK teams for Asthma UK running and challenge events and taking part in our national fundraising week Putting Asthma in the Limelight in May 2010.

Rachel Farrow, Corporate Development Officer at Asthma UK, said: ‘We are delighted to have been selected as Chubb UK’s first ever charity to be supported through their fundraising efforts and can’t wait to get started with their activities over the next year.’

Lucy Williams, HR Advisor at Charity at Chubb said: ‘We are excited to be partnering with the charity over the next year and that through many fun activities and events we can raise money to help to improve the quality of life for many more people with asthma in the UK.’

GAME

The third Asthma UK Gala Evening 2009 took place on 17 September at Middle Temple. The event received fantastic corporate support and Asthma UK would like to thank all the companies who sponsored the event, advertised in the programme and who attended on the night, helping us to raise a total of £100,000.

GAME was the lead sponsor for the second year and provided extremely generous financial and in-kind support. Capgemini were the champagne sponsor for the evening.

The key benefits for sponsors included:

  • Inclusion in media releases
  • Branded event photography
  • Networking with other high net-worth individuals and senior City contacts

There were over 300 guests, including those from our sponsors as well as Allianz, Barclays, Rothschild and Speechly Bircham as well as many more corporate supporters.

Asthma UK President Sir John Major (KG CH) once again supported the event, while Alexander Armstrong entertained guests with a comedy routine.

Barclays

Barclays are supporting the launch of Asthma UK's brand new special edition lime Bagpuss pin badges. These lovely new pin badges which come in three designs will be exclusively available for you to get hold of in Barclays branches from 13 October to 9 November this year. If you miss out though, not to worry, as they will be available again in March 2010!

Bagpuss - lime‘These brand new badges have been created and produced especially for the partnership and our Putting Asthma in the Limelight fundraising campaign. We know that Bagpuss sells extremely well in Barclays – in 2006 sales of the soft toys reached an incredible £111,000! – so we are very excited about running another successful collaboration.’

method have been supporting Asthma UK since May 2009.

During Asthma UK’s Putting Asthma in the Limelight week, method donated 11% of sales of their products on Ocado, to represent the 1 in 11 children with asthma in the UK.  method also teamed up with our other corporate partner, Barclays, to offer vouchers to Barclays staff who are supporting us in 2009.

 Following the success of the Bagpuss charm bracelets in 2008, O2 have continued to sell Bagpuss magnetic bookmarks in O2 stores raising a further £25,000 which matched the donations raised the previous year raising a total of £50,000 for Asthma UK.

This year will be an exciting one for O2 as employees are fully behind the in store campaign and will be taking part in fundraising activity in support of Asthma UK.

GSK are supporting Asthma UK by funding two new asthma nurse posts that will be appointed in 2010. These posts are brand new to Asthma UK’s plans and will focus on addressing poor asthma management in children within the chosen Primary Care Trusts. GSK are also Corporate Gold members.

Merck Sharp & Dohme Ltd

MERCK

In 2009 Asthma UK was able to offer 19 grants funded by Merck Sharp & Dohme Ltd to healthcare professionals, postgraduate trainees and basic researchers to attend the 2009 ERS Annual Congress.

Merck Sharp & Dohme also supported a variety of Back to School campaigns, including sticker postcards in cinemas across the UK. The postcards offered top tips to help children keep asthma under control and reminded children to continue taking their asthma medicine during the summer holidays, even when if they’re feeling well.

The professionalism and energy of the Asthma UK team ensured a highly productive partnership supporting staff and customer awareness, fund-raising, PR and most importantly raising record breaking funds for vital research.'

Boots adopted Asthma UK as their charity of the year in 2003-04. Money and awareness was raised through in-store sales of pin badges and zip pulls and a high profile information campaign. An information booklet on asthma, providing helpful information and advice was produced and displayed in all stores. Pharmacists were sent quarterly factsheets to refresh their asthma knowledge and enable to them to answer customer questions.
