Fundraising products

Asthma UK has been selling a range of Bagpuss products since 2002. The loveable children’s TV character has proved to be hugely popular with many national companies, including Bay Trading, Morrisons, 02 and in particular, Lloyds TSB, where in 2007 pin badge sales raised record sales.

We were absolutely delighted to work with Asthma UK on their Bagpuss pin badge appeal. It has been a real success with both our staff and customers, being one of our most popular ever pin badge appeals.

Bagpuss

In 2006 Barclays raised £111,000 for Asthma UK through sales of Bagpuss plush toys - the bank's second most successful campaign ever.

Bagpuss was also voted the fourth most popular character (out of over 40 products) in Barclays branches and in April 2008 a BBC poll voted Bagpuss the favourite children's TV animal of all-time.

Furthermore, the success of the Bagpuss Appeal resulted in us being short-listed for the Charity Times Awards in 2007 as Fundraising Team of the Year.

Other partners we have worked with on this campaign include HBOS, Cheltenham & Gloucester Building Society, Britannia Building Society and Cheshire Building Society.

In addition to Bagpuss pin badges the range of fundraising products has included:

  • Bagpuss charm braclets
  • Bagpuss bookmarks
  • Bagpuss tax disc holders
  • Bagpuss glitter pin badges
  • Christmas tree star decorations

It's easy to get involved

The appeal is extremely easy to administer and costs you nothing, but is a great way to generate positive PR and demonstrate your corporate social responsibility.

We will coordinate and resource the production and distribution of the materials to you. We can also set up a hotline to answer day-to-day enquiries about Bagpuss products including re-orders, handling returns and banking funds. Our finance team will also manage all financial administration and provide regular updates.

Providing information and advice in-store

Wallet sized card guide to do during an asthma attack.

Providing educational initiatives in-store is a very effective way to enhance your services and build your brand, directly engaging the 1 in 12 adults and 1 in 10 children who have asthma in the UK. Having access to the right information plays a huge role in people being able to gain control of their asthma and therefore reduce hospital admissions.

We are currently working with a number of pharmacies to support their asthma consultations, called Medicines Use Reviews (MURs). The MUR takes around 20 minutes and involves a free private consultation with an accredited pharmacist to discuss issues such as inhaler technique, triggers and medicine dosage. We have worked with pharmacies including Lloydspharmacy, Boots, Alliance and Superdrug to help provide advice and consultancy on creating their own leaflets for people with asthma and advice on using our own materials, along with other initiatives that help to raise awareness such as pin badge slots and fundraising months.

In recent years we have worked in partnership with a number of high street names including Sainsbury’s, Superdrug, Hennes and Bhs to provide information to customers ranging from in-store leaflets, Asthma UK Adviceline cards and posters, to free copies of Asthma Magazine for customers.
