Important announcement for Airways Extra members
Since the launch of the journal in March 2003 we have always welcomed and regularly received feedback from our growing number of members. As a result of this feedback we have continually reviewed and adapted to the needs of our readers to provide a valuable resource and help improve patient care.
During the last three years we have also seen several exciting developments and changes regarding the two parent charities, Asthma UK (formerly National Asthma Campaign) and Education for Health (incorporating the National Respiratory Training Centre).
As a result of the changes experienced by both organisations it was decided that The Airways Journal would cease publication at the end of 2006.
In August 2005 The National Respiratory Training Centre merged with Heartsave to become Education for Health and has broadened their spectrum of interests in primary and secondary care to include a range of long term conditions. There will be a new publication which will be exclusive to Education for Health and supplied free to all who register. The British Journal of Primary Care Nursing for Respiratory and Allergy launched in December 2006.
Asthma UK is currently reviewing how best to use resources to support the many thousands of healthcare professionals with whom it is in regular contact through its website asthma.org.uk and its other publications.
The last issue of The Airways Journal appeared in December 2006.
