Asthma outcomes

Asthma UK has produced a tool for healthcare professionals and commissioners in England which will help to identify areas where resources might be better focused to improve outcomes for people with asthma.

The asthma dashboard brings a variety of NHS information about asthma into a single place, giving an overview of asthma care and outcomes in each area. It's intended to help healthcare decision-makers to identify whether they are giving enough attention to asthma in their region.  
 
In England, there is an asthma dashboard for each Strategic Health Authority, giving figures for each PCT on:

  • Asthma prevalence
  • Asthma reviews in primary care
  • NHS spending on asthma
  • Emergency hospital admissions
  • Readmissions
  • Bed days
