Research in Scotland
Asthma UK has funded many Scotland-based researchers through the years. We are currently funding the work of Professor Judith Allen at the University of Edinburgh.
Past Asthma UK researchers in Scotland include Dr Mike Thomas, one of our Chief Medical Advisers, and Dr Jennifer Cleland, who are both working to improve the treatment and care people receive in the community.
Dr Jennifer Woof, at the University of Dundee, is undertaking scientific research to underpin the creation of new treatments and Dr Dermot Ryan, in Aberdeen, has undertaken an Asthma UK study to investigate whether mobile phone technology can help people take more control over their symptoms.
Professor Judith Allen
Professor Judith Allen leads a research team at the University of Edinburgh. Her aim is to discover whether drugs that block natural chitinase proteins could be developed to create future asthma treatments.
