Research in Wales

Asthma UK has funded many research projects in Wales over the years. At the University of Bangor, Professor Mark Baird is using his chemical expertise to develop new asthma treatments based on natural compounds found in the tuberculosis bacterium. And, in recent years, we have funded Dr Cathy Thornton's research in Swansea. She aims to understand how the environmental factors that a baby is exposed to in the womb affect the development of its immune system and response to asthma triggers.
