How much we spend
To date, Asthma UK has spent over £50 million on research to understand the biology of asthma, create new treatments, improve the support and care individuals with asthma receive, and prevent people from developing the condition wherever possible.

Projects funded in 2009
In 2009 we funded 18 new research projects to understand the causes of asthma, develop new treatments and improve people’s quality of life.
Projects funded in 2010
16 new research projects were funded by Asthma UK in 2010, including work to discover whether restoring the balance of bacteria in the lungs can improve asthma symptoms
