Asthma UK comment on the 60th anniversary of the NHS
30 June 2008

Neil Churchill, Chief Executive of Asthma UK says: ‘60 years ago, asthma routinely killed, disabled and isolated people with little respite. Thanks to medical advances and the NHS, most people with asthma today expect to lead healthy, full and active lives, despite the huge growth in the number of people living with what can still be a dangerous and deadly condition. On its 60th birthday Asthma UK, along with people with asthma, will celebrate the skill, dedication and compassion of nurses and doctors in our NHS and count on their continued efforts to ensure that the best quality care is available for all, regardless of income’.
