Events offer fundraising opportunities

Asthma UK has secured guaranteed places in two prestigious half marathons this autumn, giving the charity’s supporters an exciting opportunity to challenge themselves and raise money.

The BUPA Great North Run takes place on Sunday 5 October. The world’s biggest and most prestigious half marathon will see over 47,000 runners attempting the 13.1 mile route between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields. Last year Asthma UK’s 380-strong team raised a fantastic £140,000.    
 
Asthma UK has also secured places at an exciting new race – the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon, which take place on Sunday 12 October.

The beautiful route races through London’s four Royal Parks, taking in superb views of Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, London Eye, Marble Arch and the Royal Albert Hall.

For athletes seeking a more varied challenge, Asthma UK also has places available for the London Triathlon, which takes place at the ExCel centre, Docklands from 9-10 August. The closing date for entries is Friday 27 June.

2008 has already been a fantastic year for Asthma UK’s events team. The London Marathon and Asthma UK 10K received fantastic support and raised over £400,000.
