Fuel bill advice for people with asthma
21 December 2005
One of the coldest winter for years has meant that keeping warm has become an important but expensive priority for people with asthma who find cold and damp conditions trigger their symptoms. The UK gas and electricity watchdog Energywatch has set up a consumer team that can help people with asthma and other long-term health conditions to reduce their energy costs.
Working with partner agencies such as the Department of Work & Pensions, local authorities, the NHS and energy grant and advice organisations, Energywatch can offer advice and assistance with home insulation, entitlements and reducing bills.
'This is something we would urge all people with asthma to consider, not just older people or those on low incomes,' said Martin Dockrell, Asthma UK's Assistant Director of Policy & Public Affairs.
The information and advice offered by Energywatch is free and independent. To find out more contact 0845 906 0708 quoting reference PCT AST or visit Energywatch website.
