Asthma UK Cymru’s Alert to Asthma programme has been given a generous grant of almost £20,000 by the Millennium Stadium Charitable Trust.

The Alert to Asthma programme aims to deliver 20 training sessions in 2010 to teachers and child carers to give them the skills and confidence to support children with asthma in their care.

On average four children are rushed to hospital everyday in Wales fighting to breathe. The Alert to Asthma programme can play a key part in helping children better manage their condition and reducing these distressing experiences.

Catrin Shorney, Asthma Services Development Officer for Wales says: ‘The grant from the Millennium Stadium Charitable Trust is a huge boost to the Alert to Asthma programme, enabling Asthma UK Cymru to reach more disadvantaged communities and those where asthma has made the most impact, as well as being able to provide training kits and improved training materials. Through providing this much needed training programme for teachers and carers our Alert to Asthma programme will have a far reaching and lasting impact on children with asthma in Wales’.
