Training for pre-school carers: Alert to Asthma

Alert! to Asthma logo.

Asthma UK Northern Ireland runs a programme of information sessions in Northern Ireland for pre-school carers.

The information sessions, called Alert to Asthma, aim to equip early years carers with the knowledge of what to do in case a child in their care has an asthma attack.

Hundreds of pre-school carers have been trained in Scotland over the last few years, and the programme has proved so successul and popular that it is being rolled out over Wales and Northern Ireland.

Kick Asthma holidays

Three children abseiling on a Kick-A holiday.

Asthma UK's week-long Kick Asthma adventure holidays are for children and young people with asthma (and other related conditions).

Combining physical and social activities such as abseiling, kayaking, discos and quizzes, with educational sessions that teach the youngsters more about how to control their asthma, the holidays give kids a great confidence boost and parents the chance to relax for a week.

Details of Kick Asthma Holidays taking place in Northern Ireland in 2009 with published here shortly.
