the application process for research projects starting in 2008 has closed. There are no new fellowships available for 2008. The next fellowship will start in 2009 and details of how to apply will be available in August 2008. Read on for more information about project grants and fellowship funding.
Asthma UK provides funding for project grants and fellowships. We run an annual grant round and call for fellowship applications when an existing fellowship is due to finish. Due to limited funding we cannot provide separate grants for travel or conference costs.
The competition for research funding from Asthma UK is fierce, and every year we receive almost four times as many applications as we are able to fund. Researchers submit details of their ideas, aims, methods and collaborators to our annual call for proposals and these applications are reviewed by experts around the globe.
The dedicated Asthma UK Research Committee then recommends the most valuable projects for the charity to fund, so that the Trustees can agree how much research we are able to fund in that year.
