The 1,000 Throw Challenge
As part of their new charity partnership Asthma UK Scotland and JudoScotland are challenging all Scottish judo clubs to hold a sponsored judo throw to raise money for the charity.
We are encouraging all judo members to work together within their club to aim to complete 1,000 judo throws in one session whilst raising both funds and awareness for the 368,000 people with asthma in Scotland.
How do I take part?
It is easy to register your judo club for the 1,000 Throw Challenge and order fundraising materials online.
Win exclusive top prizes!
Prizes will be awarded to the top three fundraising clubs:
- 1st prize – A personal masterclass from British Judo Champion Euan Burton plus £300 in Blitzsport vouchers to spend on mats, judo kits, DVD or other specialist equipment your club needs.
- 2nd prize - £250 in Blitzsport vouchers
- 3rd prize - £200 in Blitzsport vouchers
Why do we need your help?
With over 1 million children living with asthma, it is the most common long-term condition affecting children in the UK. Shockingly, over a third of children with asthma report that they can be left out of sport due to their symptoms.
‘I
have had asthma all my life but I know that by keeping it under control
I ensure it won’t affect my performance. By organising a 1,000 Throw
Challenge at your judo club you can help raise vital funds and support
Asthma UK Scotland’s work to improve understanding of the condition,
giving the 72,000 children with asthma in Scotland the chance to
fulfill their potential – and perhaps become the judo champions of the
future!’
