Are you Alert to Asthma?
Alert to Asthma aims to reduce the risks to children with asthma by teaching staff at schools and nurseries how to spot and deal with asthma attacks, and how to ensure children with asthma live a full and active life.
There are 72,000 children in Scotland receiving treatment for asthma and 24% tell us that they have missed six or more days of school in a year because of their asthma. If you work in a school there are probably two children with asthma in every classroom.
To address this problem, Asthma UK Scotland can provide an asthma awareness session for staff in your school. The session will be run by a local asthma nurse and will give staff the knowledge and confidence to ensure that every child with asthma has a chance to participate fully in school activities.
