Asthma UK Cymru works to support children and young people with asthma, and those who care for them.

Asthma Awareness Sessions: Alert to Asthma

Alert to Asthma

Asthma UK Cymru runs a programme of asthma awareness sessions in Wales for pre-school carers, primary schools and secondary schools.

The awareness sessions, called 'Alert! to Asthma', aim to equip carers and teachers with the knowledge of what to do in case a child or young person in their care has an asthma attack.

Hundreds of early years carers have attended these sessions in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland over the years.  In 2010 this programme will be rolled out to secondary schools and tertiary colleges across Wales.

For more information about the 'Alert! to Asthma' programme email cshorney-jones@asthma.org.uk or call 02920 435400.

Kick Asthma holidays

Three children abseiling on a Kick-A holiday.

Asthma UK's week-long Kick Asthma adventure holidays are for children and young people with asthma (and other related conditions).

Combining physical and social activities such as abseiling, kayaking, discos and quizzes, with educational sessions that teach the youngsters more about how to control their asthma, the holidays give kids a great confidence boost and parents the chance to relax for a week.

Kick Asthma website

The Kick Asthma website provides information and advice to children with asthma. Users can play games, meet the Kick-A crew, talk to other young people with asthma through the message board and receive advice about their asthma from an asthma nurse specialist.
