Key services

• Kick Asthma holidays - In 2008 over 150 children attended these educational breaks, developing new skills, increased self confidence and better control of their asthma symptoms.
• Asthma UK Adviceline - A confidential service which in 2008 took 2,892 calls from people needing advice about asthma, including parents of children with asthma.

Research projects

Current projects include:

• Discovering if vitamin D can increase the effectiveness of steroid treatments used in asthma care.
  
• Investigating how viruses trigger asthma symptoms to help develop treatments to prevent asthma attacks.

Information provision

• Asthma Attack Card - 75,000 of these pocket sized life saving guides listing signs of and what to do in an attack were distributed in the UK last year.
• Asthma & My Child - Support for parents of children just diagnosed - answering their questions and reassuring them that they are not on their own.
