Leaving a legacy – suggested wording to include Asthma UK in your will

If you wish to support Asthma UK with a legacy, your solicitor might find the following wording useful to write or amend your Will. You can choose to leave Asthma UK a share of your estate, a fixed sum or a specific gift.

A residuary legacy (share of estate)

'I direct my executors to make over the residue (or a % share of the residue) of my estate to Asthma UK (Registered Charity Number: 802364) of Summit House, 70 Wilson Street, London EC2A 2DB, for its general charitable purposes. I further direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other proper officer of Asthma UK for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executors.'

A pecuniary legacy (a set sum)

‘I direct my executors to pay the sum of (amount in words and figures) to Asthma UK (Registered Charity Number: 802364) of Summit House, 70 Wilson Street, London EC2A 2DB, for its general charitable purposes. I further direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other proper officer of Asthma UK for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executors.'

A specific legacy (an object of value)

‘I direct my executors to make over (full description of item) to Asthma UK (Registered Charity Number: 802364) of Summit House, 70 Wilson Street, London EC2A 2DB, for its general charitable purposes. I further direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other proper officer of Asthma UK for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executors.'
