Put your asthma in the limelight – and take control

Features

We know that someone with well managed asthma is much less likely to end up needing emergency treatment, so this World Asthma Day it’s our aim to encourage everyone with asthma to have a Personal Asthma Action Plan.

This written plan plays a key part in helping you to stay in control of your asthma.

Completed by your doctor with you it contains details about your asthma medicines, how to tell when your symptoms are getting worse and what to do, including in the case of an asthma attack.

89% of those with a Personal Asthma Action Plan say that their plan helps them to better control their asthma.

Discuss top tips for staying in control in our discussion forums, plus see useful tips from celebrities with asthma.

My action plan changed my life

Charlotte Palmer, 32, says 'Getting a personal asthma action plan was life-changing, as I now know what I need to do to control my asthma. It's all about understanding your triggers and being able to assess your symptoms.'

Interesting fact!

We know that people who do not have a Personal Asthma Action Plan are four times more likely to end up in hospital with a severe asthma attack yet less than a third of people with asthma tell us they actually have a plan.
