Tube challenge
Along with over 300 other runners, Asthma UK’s Marketing Director Richard Donaldson will run the 26.2 mile Flora London Marathon in aid of the charity. Not content with that, Richard will also attempt something even more gruelling to help him reach his £1,500 marathon sponsorship target.
On 1 April Richard and a friend will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for The Tube Challenge. This involves visiting all 269 stations on the London Underground in the quickest time possible, using only the tube, other public transport and their own two feet.
The current record stands at 17 hours 30 minutes and 51 seconds - an amazing record to try and beat. Good luck Richard with your double challenge!

Mountain adventurers
Intrepid explorers Nick Begg and Nigel Stephenson climbed two mountains in just three months to raise money for Asthma UK. Ben Nevis, the UK's highest peak, was the climbers' first challenge as they and a group of friends scaled the mountain in May 2007.
Then it was off to Tanzania to face an altogether tougher task - reaching the summit of Africa's tallest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. At 6.30am on 7 August they did just that.
Nick and Nigel's epic adventures have raised a fantastic £2,200 for Asthma UK. A DVD of their exploits in Tanzania is available to buy now - proceeds from which will also be donated to Asthma UK.
Cooking the books
The Goddard family have supported Asthma UK since 1999, when Simon John Goddard sadly died from an asthma attack.
Since then they have undertaken a wide variety of fundraising activities, the most unique being that Simon's mother, Pat, has written and published her own cookery book to commemorate his life. The book was written and designed with help from friends and family, and contains a wealth of recipes and useful household tips.
The book is priced at £5.75 including UK postage and packing, and if you are interested in buying a copy of the book, or finding out more about organising fundraising in memory of a loved one, please contact the Community Fundraising Team at community@asthma.org.uk with your full contact details.
Record Breakers
A group of village cricketers from Northumberland batted and bowled their way into the record books, raising vital funds for Asthma UK in the process.
The players from Red Row Cricket Club played non-stop for 34 hours to beat the previous Australian-held endurance record and raise around £40,000.
They were inspired to take on the challenge by team member David Griffiths, 20, who died last December after a severe asthma attack.
Sports stars including England cricketer Steve Harmison, Newcastle united goalkeeper Shay Given and boxer Glenn McGrory all lent their support.
