The Edinburgh Marathon is approaching its fifth year and a record number of entrants are expected, along with a record finishing time. The Edinburgh Marathon offers runners the ultimate personal challenge with a spectacularly scenic route, which takes runners past many of the city's famous landmarks and tourist attractions.

The Edinburgh Marathon is more than just a race – it is a festival of fun with entertainment throughout the course and finish line celebrations. Thousands of runners will be raising much needed funds for charitable causes.

How to enter

Entry is now open and places will be allocated by the race organisers on a first come, first serve basis until 15 January 2009 or until all places have been filled.

The organisers are currently receiving a higher number of entries than in previous years so do not delay if you want to secure a place in the 2009 event!
