Asthma UK issues health advice for people with asthma during the hot weather

18 July 2016

The Met Office has forecast the hottest day of the year so far tomorrow (19 July 2016). Please see the following advice from Asthma UK for people with asthma on how to stay well during the hot and sunny weather:

Andrew Proctor, Director of Advice and Support at Asthma UK, said: “The dry, hot air across most of the UK tomorrow and the rest of the week mean there is an increased risk of having a potentially life threatening asthma attack for the 1 in 11 people in the UK who have asthma.

“People with asthma need to be on high alert as their airways may already be inflamed for a number of reasons including high levels of pollen and pollution. It’s really important that people with asthma take their medicines as described and carry their reliever inhaler with them at all times. It’s also a good idea to carry a bottle water to keep cool and hydrated. Please visit www.asthma.org.uk for further tips and advice to help stay safe during this hot spell.”
