Asthma UK response to the National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Homicide by People with Mental Illness research

Asthma UK have the following response to the National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Homicide by People with Mental Illness research, linking asthma and suicide amongst children and young people.

Kay Boycott, Chief Executive of Asthma UK, says: “This report is really worrying, particularly as research has shown people with asthma are up to twice as likely to also suffer from anxiety and depression. Following from the National Review of Asthma Deaths, this report is a further wake-up call for the NHS to give young people with asthma the support they need to manage their health. Parents and children who need advice on how to manage their asthma during the stressful exam period can visit www.asthma.org.uk or call the Asthma UK Helpline on 0300 222 5800.”
