2017 Senior Non-Clinical Fellowships Awards

The 2017 Senior Non-Clinical Fellowships round is now open for applications!

Objective

In 2016 we launched our new 2016-2021 Research Strategy which incorporates and adopts the 15 priority asthma research areas identified by the European Asthma Research and Innovation Partnership. The key aims of the Strategy are to fund research which improves the lives of people living with asthma today and which reaches towards the creation of a cure for asthma. We will achieve this by increasing the number of highly skilled asthma researchers in the UK, encouraging and enabling collaboration between scientists and funders, and undertaking ongoing evaluation of our research achievements.

As part of the new Research Strategy the Senior Non-Clinical Fellowship Awards aim to support researchers at post-doctoral level who want to transition to independence. The awards are for £225,000 for up to 5 years and are open to applicants who have a track record of challenging, original and productive research in their area which shows productivity across past appointments (typically at least one post-doctoral appointment), as well as an upward trajectory. The awards aim to support researchers and their staff in answering a single question or a small group of related questions about a specific aspect of asthma which has been highlighted as a priority research area.
