Write your will for free

What is the free will writing service?

Our free will writing service allows you to write or update your will, and have it paid for by Asthma UK at no cost to you. This would normally cost between £90 - £150, (sometimes even more!)

There are 2 ways to write or update your will, choose the approach that suits you best:
  • Write your will online with our partners at Beyond, the UK’s top-rated online will writing service, in as little as 15 minutes from the comfort of your own home.
  • Request a free will writing pack to have a simple will written with a solicitor near you.

Whilst you’re under no obligation to do so, most people who use the service also choose to leave a gift to Asthma UK to help our work towards better treatments, cures, and support for people with asthma.

Frequently asked questions

How do I ensure my will is valid?

For your will to be valid you need to make sure it exists on paper- a copy of your will on the computer alone is not enough. It must be signed by you and two witnesses who must be over the age of 18 and cannot be your spouse or civil partner.

Are there any tax benefits to leaving money to charity in my will?

If you leave something to charity in your will, then it won't count towards the total taxable value of your estate. You can also cut the Inheritance Tax Rate on the rest of your estate from 40% to 36%, if you leave at least 10% of your ‘net estate’ to a charity.
