About us

What we do

We help hundreds of thousands of people with asthma with expert advice and support.

We challenge complacency and campaign to improve the quality of care received by people with asthma.

We fund world-class research into understanding asthma and developing better treatments.

Who we are

Asthma UK is a membership-based charity with a current membership of approximately 5,200. We have a long history, stretching all the way back to 1927, when the Asthma Research Council was founded after the Earl of Limerick wrote to The Times.

How we run

Asthma UK is governed by a Council of Trustees, chaired by John Tucker. Council sets the strategic direction of the charity, ensuring the charity achieves its objectives whilst upholding the charity’s values. The day to day running of the Charity is the responsibility of the Senior Leadership Team.

Read our 2017-2020 strategy and find out how we understand that the future success and sustainability of the organisation is dependent on the strategic choices we make.

Our annual report and accounts reviews our performance for the previous year, the progress we're making against our objectives and our aims for the future.

Strong governance and management are critical to our success and reputation and accordingly we have a governing Council that takes overall responsibility for our work.
